The game has had a lot of testing, but please let me know if find any bugs (Discord or email). And if you haven't yet wishlisted the game on Steam, please consider doing so – each wishlist helps a lot!

The diary engine has had a major overhaul, thanks to a grant from the NZFC Interactive Development fund. Rather than pawns writing diary entries immediately after an event occurs, the event may now become the topic of a future diary entry. Entries are now influenced by pawn happiness, and we've rewritten a lot of the text for Alpha 5.

We’ve added in pawn traits, which affect how they deal with different situations. For example, a pawn that loves digging will work faster if they did a lot of digging recently, or a pawn that is afraid of the dark will get slightly sadder if their environment isn’t lit up.

There are also four new pawn buffs, which impact your pawns’ productivity, happiness, and potential diary entries. These include someone recently died, slept on floor, and did lots of digging recently.

In Alpha 5, we've added three new plumbing buildings for creating liquid networks – a way to move liquids throughout the world.

In future updates these networks will tie into other buildings, such as an oxygen generator that will transform water into oxygen and hydrogen.

There is also a new liquid network layer, just like the power layer, which shows you the state of the network and inputs/outputs:

Adaptory will also be part of the NZ Kiwi Interactive Showcase for the first time this year, where members of the public can come along and play some cool upcoming NZ games.
